Our Baby

One Year

New Pictures added on August 13

Clara is now one year old. She now weighs 21 pounds 3 ounces and is 29 1/2 inches long (or tall, since she stands most of the time now). She did have a party with presents and cake. She really liked all of her presents - even better than the wrapping paper. She must be growing up. And she really enjoyed the cake too. She obviously has a sweet tooth. So now she gets to work on her second year.

Relaxing a bit with Mom.

Clara reads some of the cards she received.

She's getting very good at this reading thing.

Razorback magnets and music CDs from Aunt Amy and Uncle Andy.

Grandma and Grandpa Simunac sent a book.

Look, the page opens up.

And it opens again. Wow!

Grandma and Grandpa Commer also sent a book. I'm good at turning the pages.

This has some interesting pictures. And music too!

Great-grandma and Great-grandpa Commer sent a doll.

I want to hold it Now, Mommy!

Mommy and Daddy got me Lego Quattros.

I like the colors.

And I really like the mess I can make. Notice that Cassie has claimed the wrapping paper.

Now it's time for cake.

My first piece of cake. How am I supposed to do this?

Fingers in the mouth - it's all coming back to me now.

Ooooh! Frosting!

Guess I can eat that too.

This is such fun! And so messy! I love it!

All that sugar is making me thirsty.

Are you taking pictures of this? Give me that camera!

It's really getting all over now.

Guess I'll have to lick it off.

I think I'll eat my hand.

C'mon Daddy, pick me up!

Clara holding her new doll (no name yet).

Clara checks out the laundry basket.

Everything is OK in here!

A rather large video of Clara interacting with the washer and dryer, climbing partway up the stairs and then down again, talking all the time. It is large and will take a while to download on a dialup connection. Make sure your speakers are on! (7MB)

Clara's birthday party at the Child Development Center.

Nicole was there and all her friends, but Mommy was the best.

Watermelon and Cheerios.

Let' eat!

After the food was the water table.

Look at the fish I caught.

He's getting away.

I like playing in the water.

The other kids are starting to splash.

Guess I'll have to splash a little too.

I like my Daddy!

Sitting with Little Lamb.

No, he's all mine.

Clara likes to read. In this short movie she reads us a postcard, showing a great range of emotion. Perhaps she'll be a poet some day. (2MB)

Clara in the kitchen helping Mommy cook.

Would you like to play with Pink Kitty?

I'll just sit in the corner and watch.

I sure do like walking.

Mommy is the best person in the whole world!

Clara is learning how to walk by using an old Pampers box as a walker. She also talks most of the time while she's doing it. Here's a short video demonstration. (3.4MB)

Cassie comes to visit.

Clara at the CSDC picnic on a dinosaur.

This slide looks like fun.

Whoa! Did I really go down that thing?

Let's swing!

Higher, higher.

Hmmm, this tastes swing tastes good.

I can swing all by myself.

And have such a good time doing it.

Wave for the camera.

This is the most fun I've had in ages.

Clara with her new toy (a massage roller). It works just like a truck and is easier to hold.

Laughing at Daddy.

I hope you're having fun with that camera.
